The Red Sox beat Cleveland 5-3 to complete a mini-sweep of the Indians. Veritek came in as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth and belted a go ahead solo home run. Red hot Youkilis added an insurance run as well later in the ninth to put us up by two.
The big story of the night though was Lowrie who played in his first big league game going in for Lowell who is injured. He ended up the night with 3 rbi's and played a solid 3rd base. Wakefield had his knuckler working and kept us in the game as the score went back and forth. Papelbon took the night off so the save went to Okajima who filled in nicely with 2 strikeouts in the ninth to finish them off.
Now off to New York to take care of the Yankees. I'm sure the fans there will welcome us well especially with all the talk about the jersey that was planted in concrete at the new stadium. Should be a fun game to watch.
Oh, and the Red Sox have the dash by their name in the standings - we are back in first!
