The Yankees took the first game of the short two game set 15-9 in a game that took just over 4 hours to complete. Buchholtz couldn't get through the 4th inning and he gave up 7 runs. We did battle back and got on Wang which even Yankee fans couldn't think we could do. We took a lead in the 5th but Tavarez, who looked completely spent gave up 4 runs and took the loss. Aardsma looked good but Timlin just can't seem to pitch against the Yankees anymore. His ERA is now 27.00 as he gave up another 4 runs in 1 inning of work.
Our offense came up big and I am really starting to like Sean Casey. Youk is still hitting although he hit one off his foot that really looked bad, but hopefully he will be ok. In a game where we score 9 runs, it is surprising that Jacoby went 0-5 in the leadoff spot. On the bright side, I like that we got to Wang and our bats came up big. Our middle relief scares me a little and we need to get more innings from our starters.
In game 2, we should be just fine with Josh Beckett on the mound. A split in the Bronx isn't bad and we will still be in first place.

I always cringe when Tavarez comes to the mound. I still have faith in Timlin-red sox wife
