Snakebitten by the Diamondbacks

We took 2 of 3 from the Diamondbacks while our pitching still looks good but our offense is still a little problematic. We lost game one 2-1 in a game where we lost Youkilis to a black eye after he got hit warming up the infield between innings. Beckett pitched a strong 8 innings and took the loss while striking out 8. Our offense could only produce 4 hits and our only run came with a Drew sacrifice fly. Tek looks lost at the plate, hope he turns it around soon. We need to get Papi back soon. Our offense needs him.

Game two of the series we won 5-4 scoring 4 runs in the 8th inning. Youk sat out the game only coming into the game in the ninth for defensive purposes after we had the lead. Our offense was shut down all night until our outburst in the 8th. Pedroia and Lowell came up big when we needed them. I am always amazed at Pedroia. He is becoming my new favorite on the team. He seems to always get the clutch hit when we need him to and he seems to always be giving everything he has out there. I hope he makes the allstar team this year. Paps came in and got the save to close the door on the Backs tonight.

Game three we won 5-0 on the pitching performance of Wakefield. He went 7 innings and gave up only 2 hits. Our offense was still sputtering along until the 8th inning again when we scored 3 runs on Cash's 3-run home run to put us up by 5. Youk was back playing first and Pedroia had another 3 hit game. Our bullpen almost blew it in the ninth and we actually had to have Papelbon come in to save the game for us even though we were up by 5 runs.

Now an off day then we start a big road trip to Houston, Tampa Bay and New York. These upcoming games are very important. We can increase our lead in the division or possibly fall into third place if we don't win at least half of them. Hope our bats come around soon.
